1. Place 6 slices of bread in the bottom of a 13x9 baking dish that has been greased with butter.
2. Butter the remaining 6 slices of bread.
3. Layer on top of the other slices, butter side facing up.
4. Whisk the eggs in a mixing bowl.
5. Add the cream, milk, sugar and vanilla and beat well to combine.
6. Pour the mixture over the bread and allow to sit for 20 minutes.
7. Place the baking pan into an even larger baking pan.
8. Fill the larger pan 1 inch with boiling water.
9. Bake for 40 minutes, uncovered, in a 375 degree oven, or until a knife inserted in the center of the dish come out clean.
10. Allow the dish to stand for 10 minutes before serving.
11. Top with blackberry preserves. |
