French Toast With Raspberry Cream Sauce

Egg mixture starts with evaporated milk, eggs, water, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. French toast is fried and topped with raspberry cream sauce.

Ingredients -

1 cup Evaporated Milk
2 large Eggs
3 tablespoons Water
2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
8 thick slices French Bread
2 cups crushed Cornflakes
Margarine or Butter
Confectioners' Sugar
Raspberry Cream Sauce (recipe below)
1/2 pint Fresh Raspberries

 
Preparation:

1. In a medium bowl, combine evaporated milk, eggs, water, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.

2. Dip French bread slices into egg mixture and coat each slice with crushed cornflakes.

3. Heat skillet over medium heat. Add margarine and butter.

4. Cook each bread slice until golden and crisp.

To serve:
1. Place two slices of French toast on individual plates

2. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.

3. Garnish with Raspberry Cream Sauce and fresh raspberries.

Raspberry Cream Sauce:
1 (10 ounces) package Frozen Raspberries, thawed
1 cup Sour Cream or Plain Yogurt
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon

Mix raspberries with sour cream and add cinnamon.

 



Making French Toast -
Make Sure You Have Enough Eggs
Drier bread needs to be cooked slightly longer than moist bread as the egg mixture will soak in more.

Making French Toast -
Use Butter
If your French recipe calls for butter, do not substitute with margarine. The result will not measure up.
